Thoughtful Garden Design and Build in Wadhurst, East Sussex.
Gardens shaped to fit naturally within the landscape of Wadhurst and the East Sussex High Weald. Greenwild bring together considered garden design and expert construction - beautiful, natural gardens shaped by the area’s dramatic ridgeline setting, ancient valleys and rich soil.
Considered garden design for homes in Wadhurst
Wadhurst’s heavy clay soils and ridge-top topography make it one of the more demanding landscapes to design and build in - and one of the most rewarding when it’s done well. We design specifically to these conditions, selecting plants that thrive in moisture-retentive ground and bringing the groundwork and drainage expertise that clay sites demand.
Gardens in Wadhurst, designed and built as one.
Greenwild brings design and build together under one roof, with one team carrying your garden from conception to completion, ensuring your exact vision is delivered with clear communication throughout.
Wadhurst Garden Design
We take the time to consider your design before anything is put to paper. In Wadhurst where the High Weald landscape is such a key part, that early thinking matters even more; understanding your site, understanding the soil and knowing how you want to feel when you’re in your outdoor space.
Wadhurst Garden Build
The very best gardens are not just designed but carefully crafted into place. In Wadhurst where heavy clay and significant topography all shape what good construction looks like, our skilled team bring real experience to the groundwork and craftsmanship that these gardens demand. Built carefully - and built to last.
Wadhurst Garden studio
Concept to completion, we create enduring gardens across Wadhurst and the East Sussex High Weald.
From the village itself to the rural properties that spread across the surrounding High Weald, we bring the same depth of care and local knowledge to every project. In 2023, Wadhurst was named the best place to live in the UK by the Sunday Times and we believe the gardens here should reflect that.
Meet the studio
Greenwild brings together Lucy and Ed Hall, a husband and wife team designing and building bespoke gardens for homes in Wadhurst and the surrounding areas.
Their shared background in conversation and organic agriculture is particularly well suited to this landscape. Their instinctive feel for modern country design and their understanding of soil and native planting, gives these gardens their distinctive, alive character. The result is a garden that feels entirely at home.

Our projects typically start at around £50,000 upwards for the build, with design fees calculated at a percentage of the expected construction cost. We’re happy to have an honest conversation about your garden and what’s realistic for you before any commitment is made.
-
It’s often a defining characteristic of gardens in this part of the country and something we design and build for specifically. Our designs incorporate planting that thrives in moisture-retentive conditions and we have the experience and expertise to ensure the right drainage and groundwork is in place for the start, giving your garden the foundation needed to establish well and last.
-
The National Landscape designation (formerly known as AONB - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) protects the wider character of the area but doesn't generally restrict what you can do within a private garden. Our approach is always to design with the landscape rather than against it, which means our gardens tend to sit naturally within the National Landscape’s character in any case.
